How Your Results Are Handled

When you’re studying a subject, it’s important to understand how your results are handled. It’s also important to know your rights if you have a complaint about your result. If you believe you have been discriminated against or if your results are not consistent with other students, you should contact the unit of study coordinator for your subject.

Your Faculty or School will have to approve and finalise your results before they are sent to you. This can take a few days, so please allow plenty of time. You can request a review of your results by emailing your unit of study coordinator within 5 working days after you receive your results notice.

Incomplete (IC) and Requires Review

When a student has received an IC or RI result and the subject coordinator has not been able to determine if it is correct, they will need to complete a template. This will include information about the unit of study, and any supporting documentation. Once the template has been completed, the subject coordinator will consider the claim and decide if the result should be adjusted. If they decide that it does need to be adjusted, they will send you an email with a decision.

If you are not satisfied with your result, you should contact the unit of study coordinator to discuss your concerns. They will need to discuss your complaint with the relevant department or school and may also ask for additional evidence or support. If they decide that the results are accurate, your subject will be withdrawn and you will be allowed to re-enrol in another subject.

To request a review of your result, you should email your subject coordinator with a full description of your complaint and any examples or supporting documentation. You should also provide a copy of your result notice to your subject coordinator.

You will be able to make a claim for an Incomplete (IC) or Requires Review (RI) result. This is only available for subjects where you have received an IC or RI result and you have not been able to determine if it’s correct. You must complete a template (PDF, 29kB) and send it via email to your subject coordinator.

IC/RI Incomplete and Requires Review

When determining your result, your faculty or school will need to consider any allegations of discrimination, prejudice or bias from you or anyone involved in the assessment process. This includes the person who has marked your work, your tutors and other staff. If you have a complaint about your results, it is important that you provide proof of the alleged discrimination, prejudice or bias before you can make a claim for an IC/RI result.

Incomplete & Requires Review

When your final subject result is incomplete or you have been denied a RI or IC result, you can make a claim for an Incomplete (IC) result. This is only available for subjects that you have received an IC or RI in and your faculty or school will need to consider your claim. If they decide that the result needs to be adjusted, you will be notified of the outcome and will be allowed to re-enrol with another subject.
